“…the moment I had this box of colors in my hands, I had the feeling that my life was there."
- Henri Matisse
Tamura Price began her art education observing the world around her in its bold colors, forever shifting patterns and delicate forms. Children’s books told the stories she longed to be able to read herself, but it was the illustrations that captured her imagination. A gifted mimic of favorite illustrators emerged developing a style of her own and a keen eye for the unnoticed - the simplistic beauty that arrests, and startles wonder awake. It has become her constant joy to attempt to recreate these observations in a variety of mediums where color, pattern and form play the leading roles.

Tamura Price earned a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree at University of Tampa in 1995. In 1994, she was the winner of the University of Tampa Alumni Holiday Card Design Contest. In 1993, she had the distinct honor of having her work coveted so much that it was literally stolen from the wall. From 1990-1999, Tamura designed, created, and marketed her own line of beaded jewelry, clay incense holders, and other unique crafts and gifts. Returning to her love of books after graduation, she worked for several years in the publishing industry. In more recent years, she has transformed her love of creating publications into learning from them by becoming a teacher. In 2010, Tamura donated three original paintings to silent auction for the Tail’s End Benefit held at the Connecticut Yankee, San Francisco, CA. She was thrilled to hear that they had fetched the highest price at the auction for such a noble cause.

ARTIST’S QUESTIONS/ANSWERS:
1. Do you think your art helps in any way...how?
I especially like the viewer to ask this question: “What is it supposed to be?” My answer always
is: “What do you think it is supposed to be? What do you see? What do you feel?” I believe
that my art helps people to look inside themselves for their own answers. That is always a good
thing.

2. Why should (if at all) people trade for your art/artistic services?
If a piece of my artwork moves someone, or gives them a certain pleasurable feeling that they
want to have more often, then being able to help create that experience again for them is
important to me.

3. What kind of help (if any) would you like in terms of your art and/or artistic career?
Any specific people/institutions?
I am continuously interested in meeting with other artists and supporters of the creative arts. It is
my belief that art is an intrinsic part of the human experience and we are all natural connoisseurs.
