SHEILA
O'DONNELL
My biography: Visual Artist designs art exhibits based on women's historical costume, greeting cards, illustrations, posters, and children's books. 2000 received certificate of recognition for commitment to art and social change from California Legislature for Famine Poster (Great Famine in Ireland)
Question : If we as a society funded art from k-college our focus would be more human and creative instead constant wars?
My art brings a unique perspective and histor
ical content to women from antiquity to the 18th century. It explores costume, culture, antiquity and it explores cross over between culture. In my frog paintings I explore endanger wildlife.
Women need to be explored in art by
women artist's..their lives, language, costume it has only been since the 60's the women have really been discussed.
Because women artist's and their art, such as, mine . Need to be given a voice.
Networking
is important to me and groups or individuals who would support my work. The Great Dress of Morocco should be major because not much on women is visible from the expulsion of jews from spain in 1492. This dress is historical and played an important part in the lives of women from North Africa, Spain and the Ottoman empire.
